Abstract

A base d'un reconeixement descriptiu de les albuferes compreses entre el Llenguadoc i Múrcia, a més de les Illes Balears, i d'un estudi més acurat d'uns quants casos més ben coneguts (el Prat d'Albalat, l'Albufera de València, l'Albufera d'Elx, el Mar Menor i l'Albufera de Mallorca), hom assaja de construir un model d'albufera mediterrània, el principal tret de la qual és l'absència gairebé total de marees. Una altra condició reiterada a tots els casos és el gradient de l'estran, sempre molt feble i amb un postpaís baix. L'aparent tendencia al rebliment no seria tan generalitzada si no forra per la intensa actuació antròpica, dirigida no només al sanejament, sinó també a l'aprofitament agrari.
