In the novel Le tyran éternel, written by French novelist Patrick Grainville, two enunciator-observers display two radically opposed discourses on the political-heroic myth of Félix Houphouët-Boigny. On the one hand, the fictional writer Sylvanus Adé sets forth the “word-fantasies” of Yamoussoukro and the Albinos respectively with the isotopies of perverted hybridization and of love. On the other hand, Houphouët-Boigny introduces the same notions on the respective isotopies of perfect hybridity and hatred. This contrast in perception betrays the author’s desire to deconstruct the myth of Félix Houphouët-Boigny. This deconstruction is divided into three phases: the reproduction of the Houphouët-Boigny myth, biographical distortion, and the production of a substitute myth, in this case the myth of the Albino.
