Abstract
The first European civilisation was born in Crete where Minoans settled in 2800 BC. Greeks, who were pushed to the Hellas territory in the end of the third millenium before Christ, had learned a lot from the Minoans. They built up a civilisation based on the invention of democracy and on the certainty that the Human being has to rebel against injustice. One monument expresses the soul of Greece: the Parthenon. This is why we have to struggle for the return of the Phidias sculptures to the Acropolis Museum. Facing the current refugee crisis, the Europeans should not forget some basic values of the Ancient Greece.
