This paper analyses the translation strategies applied in fictional audiovisual products dubbed in Spanish to solve the problem that explicit references to dialect cause. For this purpose a corpus with audiovisual material has been compiled. This corpus contains scenes where there is a direct reference to dialect in the source language (English) and their dubbed version (in Spanish from Spain). The data gathered shows that there is a limited number of options that can be used to translate these phenomena. Once each option is identified and a count of all the translations strategies is done, a proposal to classify the strategies when facing references to dialect is established. This study also shows that this translation techniques can be used both individually or combined.
