Abstract

Eyesight has never ceased to play a very relevant role in man’s cognitive processes throughout our biological life as a species. However, the most exceptional feature in the human species, speech, is a mainly acoustic process. This imbalance between essentially optic information and essentially auditory communication is evident in a series of aporias but also in a series of linguistic phenomena where the important imprint of cognitive human sight is felt.
