Abstract

This article is concerned with politeness on Internet, more precisely in emails which are exchanged in academic context. The study is centered on forms of address and other opening end closing cues. It confirms what is generally said of the “hybridity” of this kind of communication (a communication which uses written medium but takes in some respects face to face communication as its model). To conclude, the more general problem is evoked of rarefaction of terms of address in contemporary French.
