Abstract

The aim of this paper is twofold. First, we analize a set of general topics. A series of theoretical issues are presented, including the specificity of Critical Discourse Analysis (i.e. Critical Linguistics  CL, Critical Discourse Analysis  CDA), notions like doxa  / episteme  and other related concepts (e.g. beliefs , attitudes  and ideologies ), as well the nature of popularization news (i.e. having a didactic purpose and considering the agents/participants and the communicative situation: Charaudeau, 1997 and Bourdieu, 1982). We then discuss several controversial cases including the origin and the evolution of the human being, genetic therapy, implants, and solidarity are analysed in four French popularizations: La Recherche , Science et Vie , Sciences et Avenir et Ça m’intéresse . We have found that notions like intertextuality, habitus and ideologies  are necessary to properly understand texts.
