Abstract

The present monograph of Quaderns de Filologia: Estudis Lingüístics aims to contribute to the investigation of the relations among languages from a historical perspective. Diachronic Linguistics demands a double endeavour on the part of the reseacher: First, to have a good command of the related languages and, second, to do it from a historical perspective.

(...) In this volume, we have gathered a number of articles that deal with phonological, morphosyntactic, semantic and lexicographic problems related to the influx of Latin on Romanic languages; to the infuence of Romanic languages on one another (French, Italian, Catalan, Spanish); some works also deal with the importance of Romanic elements on Germanic languages (e.g. English) or with the evolution of Hebrew, Latin and Spanish before analogous lexical-semantic phenomena. And all this in different historical periods.
