Abstract

This article reviews all the operatic performance that took place in Valencia during the season from 1875 to 1876, the first that coincides with the restoration of the monarchy of Alfonso XII. Through the activity that took place in the Teatro Principal of Valencia, we examined all the operatic work that took place in this city, since it was the only place where opera was performed in Valencia. A season marked, without a doubt, by the premiere of Verdi's work, Aida. A debut that was possible thanks to the participation of the asturian tenor Lorenzo Abruñedo. We also note the important presence of the soprano Anna Romilda Pantaleoni, one of the most outstanding singers at that time in European theaters.
