Towards a multilingual modus operandi in the European Union

Resum
El multilingüisme és un dels pilars de la Unió Europea (UE), consagrat en els seus tractats i celebrat en el seu lema, "unió en la diversitat". Tot i això, el multilingüisme ja no té cartera pròpia a la Comissió, en haver estat sistemàticament degradat i estar ara sota els auspicis de la Direcció General de Traducció, una direcció que, tanmateix, no compta amb una unitat dedicada al multilingüisme. A més, amb l'auge de l'anglès com a llengua franca no oficial de la UE, cada vegada es produeix més material en anglès i no es tradueix en absolut. Per tant, cal preguntar-se si els règims lingüístics i de traducció de facto de la UE entren en contradicció amb els tractats. A partir d'una sèrie de fils transdisciplinars procedents principalment de la lingüística, la ciència política i la filosofia política, aquest article avalua el règim lingüístic actual de la UE, alhora que examina diferents models de justícia lingüística, drets lingüístics i valor de la llengua per proposar un nou modus operandi lingüístic per a la UE, basat en tres girs: (1) lingüístic, (2) traductor i (3) transcultural.
