Peer review process

Works submitted to Metode Science Studies Journal for the indexed sections (Monographs and Documentary texts) will undergo a peer review evaluation process.

The reception of original articles is permanently open for the Documentary texts section.

For the Monographs, calls for papers on a specific topic will be periodically and publicly announced.

The works sent to be included in the peer reviewed sections will be first reviewed by members of the Editorial Board, who will check that the texts do meet the author guidelines and consider its suitability for the journal. The Editorial Board may reject the manuscript if it does not meet these requirements. The decision will be communicated to the author within a period of no more than four weeks.

If these requirements are met, the manuscript will be evaluated in a double blind peer review process, by persons external to the Editorial Board who are specialists in the area of the article, and whose identity will be kept confidential and will never be made known to the authors.

The double-blind review process will be carried out within a period of no more than four months, and the evaluation decision and final decision will be notified through the OJS platform. In the event that the review process takes longer due to problems external to the journal, the authors will be notified.

The reviewers may: a) approve the article without observations, b) request minimal changes or modifications (which will be sent to the authors so that they can respond within fifteen days), c) request substantial changes or modifications, which will require a new review, or d) reject the article. The review will be carried out on the basis of a review form in which the following aspects will be taken into account:

- Adequacy of the paper to the scope of the journal.

- Adequacy of the paper to the journal's editorial standards

- Contribution of the paper to knowledge

- Originality

- Writing and style

- Relevance of the topic

In the event that only one of the reviewers rejects the manuscript, the text will be submitted for review by a third reviewer. The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of the article will be made by the editor.

The final decision will be communicated to the author, together with the opinions of the reviewers, always maintaining the anonymity of both parties.

Criteria for manuscript review

This form contains the elements and criteria to be considered for the evaluation of articles proposed for publication in Metode Science Studies Journal.

The journal accepts three types of manuscripts. Those submitted for review are Research papers and Documentary texts, which include reviews on the state of the art of a topic, allowing an approach to the latest advances in a field or discipline, or reflections on this topic from a historical, philosophical, or social point of view, combining an academic character with an essayistic tone.

Should you consider that a manuscript does not fall into this category or have any queries, please contact the journal's editorial team (metodessj@uv.es).
