SCIENTIFIC REVIEW PROCESS

  • The Reviewing Board will carry out an initial review, prior to the external review process, to determine whether the articles received (both those published in the miscellaneous section and monographs) match the journal's criteria in terms of subject matter, quality of writing and length. Moreover, it must be established that these works represent original research, not previously published in any other form or in any other language.  The works must also comply with the Caplletra Guidelines for the submission of manuscripts; otherwise, they will be returned to the authors to make the necessary changes, and should be returned to the reviewing board within a period of no more than fifteen days.

  • Upon completion of this first part of the editing process, the process of double-blind peer review of the articles will begin, conducted by specialists external to the Institut Interuniversitari de Filologia Valenciana (the journal's publisher) and the Reviewing Board. This process will be directly managed by the Board of Caplletra. Every article and monograph will be assessed by two researchers selected from among the members of the Scientific Committee, the External Evaluation Committee or specialists of recognised prestige in the relevant subjects, asked to evaluate articles or monographs on an ad hoc basis

  • Following the guidelines of the review form provided by the journal and considering the criteria of originality, relevance, methodological rigour and formal presentation of the papers, each reviewer will prepare a substantiated report specifying the reasons for the acceptance, the request for revision or the rejection of the manuscript

  • Reviewers may recommend the publication of articles without the need for any amendments or they may propose the necessary corrections for the works to be published. In this case, the recommendations of the review will be sent to the authors so that they can incorporate them and return the amended version of the work within a period of no more than fifteen days.

  • If the two external reviewers consider that the work is not suitable for publication, Caplletra will take the decision and communicate it to the authors, providing the reasons given in the review. If there is no consensus in the reviews as to whether or not an article should be published, the Reviewing Board will make the final decision. In the case of agreement to publish the work, the Board of the journal and the Editorial Secretariat will supervise the implementation of the necessary amendments for the correction of the text

  • The anonymity of authors and reviewers will be preserved by the journal throughout the entire process.

  • Caplletra is committed to assess manuscripts and provide a response to authors on the acceptance or rejection of the manuscripts within a period of no more than five months, beginning with the preliminary review by the Reviewing Board.

  • Reviews will be assessed by the Reviewing Board of Caplletra, to ensure that they are original texts that have not previously published in any other medium or in any other language, and that they meet the criteria of the journal in terms of subject matter, quality of writing and length. The texts must also comply with the Guidelines for the submission of manuscripts; otherwise, they will be returned to the authors to make the necessary changes and send them back to the journal's reviewing board within a period of no more than fifteen days.

  • Caplletra does not necessarily identify with the views expressed in the works it publishes.
