During the 18th century, Valencia turned into the main Spanish silk textile manufacturing center. In order to provide with original models for them, the “School of Flowers, Ornaments and other designs suitable for Textiles” was created within the Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos in 1784. This article is about the precedents, the main protagonists and analyzes its ways of functioning, in addition to considering the relationship that she maintained throughout her history with the silk industry.
