Members of the Spanish Blue Division and the republican exile were held in the sovietic Gulag for more than a decade. After their return, they were used by the Franco’s regime to contribute to the anti-Soviet propaganda, that it developed along the dictatorship. First, the aim of this essay is to propose a periodization to the Spanish Literature about the Gulag for the years 1946 to 1975. Second, three thematic axis are analysed to show how the Francoism took advantage of this horrible experience for political purposes.
Keywords: Gulag; Spanish Blue Division; Republican Exile; Spain and World War II.
