Tanslators vs. revisers: what we are not, what we do not want

The long debated limits of creativity in translation look as quite a delicate and controversial matter. The purpose of this paper is to start asking why, while trying to clarify, if possible, some points that appear as effective crisis cases in translating literature. Each statement always moving from – or leading to – concrete examples of literary translations from various idioms into Italian (which is the author’s native and target language), in the opinion that a certain lack of meaning lays behind any a priori study on translation practices.Downloads
