This essay is an analysis of the films Le sorelle Macaluso and Miss Marx, directed in 2020 by Emma Dante and Susanna Nicchiarelli, two female authors very interesting of the contemporary Italian cinema. The focus is on styles and textual choices of both, but also on their different contexts of realization, on the use of time and space, real or cinematographic, as well as on the presence of women protagonists, sisters and daughters, with references to theater, history, literature.
