Abstract
The university dropout is one of the phenomena starring in the current debates over the university system efficiency and the achievement of excellence into a framework for implementing accountability policies. In this article we present some results of a research that has explored the dimensions and some of the factors that influence in the change of the degree. In this sense, we question the concept of dropout in their application to university, even if it is one of the concepts common in reports on the state university system used as an indicator of education (dropout rate), making it more suitable to conceptualize as a change in the degree or relocation, rather than as a definitive dropout of the university system.
