Résumé

Les maladies ne sont pas distribuées aléatoirement parmi la population, les facteurs socio-économiques influencent fortement sa production. Il existe des preuves solides, recueillies auprès de l’épidémiologie, l’économie de la santé et des sciences sociales, qui montrent que la pauvreté ou les crises économiques génèrent des inégalités en santé, tant au niveau individuel que général. Pour éliminer les inégalités en matière de santé, l’initiative des institutions publiques et des organisations de la société civile est indispensable : il faut aussi définir un cadre de coopération entre elles. Ce besoin est d’autant plus urgent dans le contexte de crise dans lequel nous vivons, puisque l’écart économique entre les classes sociales se creuse pendant que les politiques de l’État-providence sont affaiblies.
