Abstract

The touristic sector is one of the sectors in which a higher demand of translations happens. Some of this field’s characteristic text types are addressed to a large readership and describe recreation and leisure places. We often find in them a number of colloquial expressions, that become a lexical feature of these text type. In the present article we will study this kind of colloquial expressions as a translation problem by means of a concrete corpus of authentic texts that have been translated. The analysis will be centered on the expressions found in articles that deal with leisure and recreation places. From a linguistic point of view we will consider how a phenomenon that belongs to the field of register becomes a matter of text type.
